form a small group, that's your greatest dream!

Welcome to my... Guniw Zone

Every Guniw Tools release, listed in order of original appearance, with info on songs' appearances, changes between them, related videos, and more. Feel free to to a "Find on Page" search to see all the times a song appears... or is at least mentioned through the releases' trivia! Trivia will be kept to an attempted minimum - for VHS and pre-debut releases, I will keep info on this page as there is so little of it out there, but for albums and DVDs, I would love to eventually give them their own pages and show off my knowledge a little better.

In the Other Media, Merchandise, and Uncategorized sections, unless an item's method of obtaining is stated, assume it's either tour goods or just summoned itself into existence.

Song titles with an asterisk (*) indicate ones which have not received music videos, and ones with a double dagger (‡) indicate releases without official streaming availability (this should be the assumed case for post-reunion singles and nearly anything pre-debut | As I do not have access to anything pre-debut beyond what little uploads from 1992-1994 that I can find, I also cannot verify any changes between pre/post-debut versions of songs which were later released on-label.)

Underneath each new song, in a collapsible, I will also indicate all other albums, and compilations, it has appeared on, if any.

Prototype II

This VHS tape is, effectively, VV Pass 1, if you are so inclined to call it that. The exact title and nature of the title music is unknown to me, however, based on live reports, it wasn't uncommon for versions of Cor to be performed as opening music or an SE.

Albums
Niwlun () Other Goose - release whenever Early versions of this release included a set of ten photocards, held together behind the lyrics booklet with a thin translucent strip with the band and album's logo. Each photocard also features both logos, and are printed on a paper more similar to the booklet itself than what one may picture when hearing "photocard" or "print". There are two group shots, two of Full, three of Asaki, and three of Jake. There's some very strong editng and very gorgeous composition to them.
Sparky Live Sparky

another side of SPⒶRKY

This EP is unique in that the only way it could be purchased new was actually through lottery, which could only be entered by mailing in the entry tickets included in first printings of Sparky and VV Sparky. It came without a case, as the second tray of Sparky was meant to hold "another side".

DADA - release whenever Some versions of this release included a sticker(?) featuring Niwlun, in a leather jacket with a lizard in his mouth, and Ponta, wearing an eyepatch while surrounded by miscellaneous items. The bottom strip features the two creatures from the cover of VV DADA firing weapons from their heads, with the band's logo written as "Gunew Tools". There's also text identifying this as being from "VICL-35021", the catalogue number for DADA.

Support bassist Ryuji Hase has also revealed on Twitter that he has a personal collection of at least 15 live performance tapes. No video has been released, and it's unclear how much of each show each tape holds. These include Fickle Boon 12/3 Nagoya Club Diamond Hall, 12/5 Osaka Big Cat, 12/6 Hiroshima Namiki Junction, 12/8 Fukuoka Drum Logos, 12/14 Sendai Beeb Basement Theater - Act Against AIDS Live 98' 12/1 Kochi Caravanserai - Dazzler 狩り [Hunting] 10/2 Fukuoka, 10/7 Sendai, 10/9 Sapporo, 10/12 Shibuya Public Hall - Guniw 97' 2/10 Club Citta, 4/10 Club Diamond, 4/14 Shibuya Public Hall, 4/20 Shibuya Public Hall - Vitz! 8/8 - LIVE Akasaka Blitz 96' 10/25, Akasaka Blitz 3/4,

Other Media
Guniw Box Set - eh Included two printed copies of five different insect papercrafts, drawn and designed with written commentary by Full. These include the FuruKamakiri (mantis), the FuruAkane (dragonfly), the FuruGani (crab), the FuruKuwagata (stag beetle), and the FuruNanafushi (stick insect). Being designed by Full, they're the Full/FuruBugs! None of the sheets include instructions. Full states this is because he doesn't like other people telling him how to do things, "You've got a brain, so use it!" Similar papercrafts of a mantis, dragonfly, and stag beetle can also be found on Full's site in various places.

Print media includes 12 issues of Guniw Maniac, the band's fan club newsletter. The front covers feature photographs of the band and artwork, and the backs feature a centered photo above credits (?). The 12th and final issue was printed with a horizontal cover.

Before it was called Guniw Maniac, the FC was known as Devil Cutter, and at least three issues of this newsletter are known to exist. It's a single folded piece of paper, like a zine. The cover is either an illustration of the band by Full or a concert photograph, and inside is news about releases, lives, and messages from the band, along with additional photographs.

On the topic of GuniwMani, there was also Guniw Money. A paper ¥2000 bill was released bearing the Guniw Maniac / Video Maniac text, and a photo each of Full and Asaki (as they were during VV Dazzle). It also has some text obscured by the light-on-light printing, and specifies Nagoya with a serial number. Whether these differed between bills, I have no idea.

Nookicky (entered here, as I have no main Nook' page yet), also had an FC newsletter. Number of issues are unknown, but likely to be at least twenty. At some point, it appears to have evolved into a general FinchLiqueur newsletter, but this is unconfirmed, as contents of the books have not yet been fully archived. Issue covers often leave Nookicky unmentioned, and the cover of Knotty from Shilfee& has been featured on one issue. Covers range from photo collages to illustrations, in a fairly monotone style, and many appear to be textured, almost mimicking a notebook. Among them are Nookbook - "my summers is so hot" in red, NooKicky 2001 - VV Cloudy Pop Book - omoide [memories] - High Power 50% in yellow, Nookicky 2001 - Rigid Ink Pool in gray, and "啓蟄 うぞぞ" [keichitsu uzozo - The awakening of the insects / (start of spring) brrr] in blue.

Various other newsletters, flyers, photo books, and pamphlets - All contents assumed to be unknown:
Photo story book - a photograph cover featuring Full and a black/white swirl design
DAZZLER HUNTING 98 - an orange newsletter featuring Full and Asaki
Guniw Tools 1997 - a darker photo of the band in suits
Guniw Tools 1996-2000 - an inverted-color version of the alternate cover of Guniw 2000LS
Guniw 2000LS photobook
A paper on Nookicky's 2001 Okinawa performance was also released. It features a black & white (inverted color) photo of the band.
Nookicky had another 2001.8 release, the Nookicky Tibetan Photobook, with a front of a structure up a mountain and a back, again, of a collage of the band over a black background.
A photo book of Guniw's time in London is also known to exist (Photo St-)(ory book?), with a black background and a few photos of the band (and Big Ben) on the cover. I still haven't seen the full cover to confirm any text.

Merchandise
Guniw merchandise, at first glance, may seem few and far between, but when you look through auction sites and archived webpages, there's actually enough that I could make a dedicated page to it. However, most info on specific pieces has been lost to time and the internet, and I don't own hardly any of it myself for photos. Sadly I also cannot separate between FC-exclusives, general releases, and online-only releases.

Full's handmade silver jewelery - put on shilfee/nookicky/full page?

The band also had other, non-handmade, (presumably) non-silver jewelery made during this time as tour goods.
They mainly feature the band and the mascots, and have the logo stamped on the back. These designs include:
Pins: Niwlun's Skull
Incense Holder / Paperweight: Cat/Owl/Bird's Head (3x3cm)
Hand Mirror: Tree of Life (11x6cm)
Barette: Fish (6.5x3cm)
Rings: A ???, an Acorn House, Fuyu no Uguisu Dog (ド*ぉ様?), a Deer's Head with Stag Beetle Horns
Charms/Pendants: Full/Asaki-Bird (5.5cm), Full/Jake/Asaki in a wing-shape (5cm), Ponta/Niwlun x2/Cat Totem (?x?cm)

Tentatively Uncategorized
A set of 6(?) postcards were also released, possibly alongside Sparky? A grayscale Asaki from Fat December captioned "On the Bed", another gray Asaki - "Zenzendamejyan", Full from the same video - "choppirine", a row of small carved tooth-like figures captioned "of the foul case" (while they don't physically appear on Of The Foul, similar characters are doodled on the back cover), Full and another person standing in a snowy field, a photo of Full captioned "The old days", someone in a hat "watch a shadow", and an odd photoshop of Asaki looking like an insect saying "the earth is blue for me"??

Apparently, dozens of other post cards were released for Guniw and Nookicky, but most are either sold separately or feature no text, being images that are already easy to find online. If I were to get my own images, or a more definitive number on how many were released, when, and where, then I'd love to revisit this section.

A sticker of the triangular creatures from VV Other Goose was also released, presumably alongside something else. Possibly. Online sales listings love pairing it with CD Other Goose, but whether it was an in-store/online bonus, or only came with certain copies, I have no clue. My own (new) copy of Other Goose didn't have one, which is all I can say.

Guniw Tools Fickle Boon Tour 99 Calendar(?) - a cover featuring photos of various people and birds, and English captions like Plot of Aniki, Piki Puki Land, Look Really More, Bend Forward Life, The Rest Views, THE [image of Piki] 憎い奴, and Will Be Soon. EDIT: Based on one listing, this may be a double-sided perforated photocard sheet.

Another Guniw 1999 日祝祭日曆 calendar was released, though it has less relation to Fickle Boon Tour and more to the band itself. Every page is a wild photo collage, and all the dates seem scrambled, as they have more to do with anniversaries and birthdays relating to the band.

A postcard was also released for a "REAL guniw 2000Ls - ~至近距離からこんにちは でも 小じんまりしてるからってナメんなよ!!~" live house tour. The front is a photo collage of the group, with the text "Guniw's videos is selfportrait video" and "My Lovely Job is camera & music & art". The back claims the postcard is not for sale, and features the release info for Cullucoo Vision (a ¥1,313 maxi-single with a bonus), six tour dates, a link to guniw.com, info on GuniwMani, and contact info for P-Card Gain Co.

Two different versions of Full's 1998 book, ホラネとヤッパリネ (Horane & Yapparine) have been released. One is magazine-sized, featuring a cover of Ponta running to a stag beetle-shaped house, with the title and "GUNIWGOOWA" at the top (and FURU in hiragana at the bottom), and the other is roughly CD case-sized, being a 5-page board book featuring a digitally-drawn, geometrically-abstract drawing of Niwlun and Ponta on a scaly background on front, with the band's logo over a radiant background on the back. At the bottom, it reads VICTOR ENTERTAINMENT, INC. While the board book only includes the first eight pages "tsudzuku", the story is the same save for some text being altered (often shortened) and the last two pages having some redrawn artwork. The full story was also made available on Niwlun.net.

There's also another GUNIW 2000 TOOLS titled calendar-sized booklet featuring a shot of some live. I cannot tell who is on the cover. At first glance I assumed Hisashi Imai, as their haircut/outfit is very reminiscent of Imai's style during Sweet Strange Live, but the guitar doesn't match any of his, and they're playing right-handed. Hmm...

Finch Liqueur also released a purple clear file featuring Ponta.

At some point, from Finch Liqueur / Fitz, there was a sticker sheet ? clear file ? art print ? featuring a repeating pattern of Niwluns and Pontas. Niwlun is grumpily walking along with his umbrella, while Ponta is being cruficied (?!?!?).

GuNiw Taste is a flask featuring the alternate art of 2000Ls (the mirror-image spider) - white/silver engraving on a black flask.

A coin purse featuring a dalmatian (labeled FBI, a relative of CIA's?) under the text Gucchi. Guniwcchi indeed. Magenta/red with gold hinge/clasp, with a black/white tag of the band's logo.

A mug featuring (of all things) the character from the lyrics booklet from Niwlun, specifically the section for スタイリッシュパンピーの青年期 [Stylish Panpii no Seinenki]. White background. Printed illustration in black over a Jazz-style blue pattern. It came in an orange box, with the illustration in white.

There were also sticker sheets and temporary tattoos! One set, released alongside 真鍮卵 [Shinchuuran] (as indicated by the VICL-35053 printed at the bottom) bear resemblance Full's makeup during the Red Ant's Live. Another shows off the mascot characters, Full's signature, and some designs that look like rather complex machinery made of wheels and wires. Sticker-wise, many of the plushes from Full's "Strange Doll Collection" were featured, including the Panda from CLoudy Pop Book and the Cat from Rigid Ink Pool, and a handmade crochet of Niwlun.

With art from Full and photos from Full and Raindrop... I have no idea what this is.
